Dr. Carla Prado from the University of Alberta discusses the importance of nutritional status and challenges and opportunities in nutrition research and clinical practice as it relates to nutritional oncology.
This presentation will highlight the importance of nutrition across the cancer disease trajectory, especially focusing on the role of nutritional assessment and intervention in optimizing patient outcomes. The perceived neglected role of nutrition intervention will be discussed, as well as potential solutions to overcome skepticism. Finally, an overview of ongoing randomized controlled trials will be presented, setting the stage for what to expect in the next 5 years of oncology nutrition research.
