Call for Fellows of IUNS

The Council awards the title of Fellow of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (FIUNS) to individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the cause of nutrition. This appointment takes place at the General Assembly every (4) years. The next appointment will take place during the IUNS-ICN 2025 from 24 – 29 August 2025 in Paris, France.

One of our Fellows appointed at the last General Assembly in Tokyo shared what it means to her to be a FIUNS:

If you also want to be recognised and receive this great honour, please get your nominations. All nationalities are eligible to become Fellows but candidates cannot apply on their own behalf. Fellows can be nominated by:

  • IUNS Adhering Bodies
  • Affiliated Bodies
  • National Science Academies
  • Nutrition Institutions or
  • IUNS Fellows

Nominations must include:

  • A completed online application form
  • A letter of recommendation
  • A short curriculum vitae or biography
  • The candidates’ scientific achievements and
  • A list of their publications

Fellows of IUNS are selected based on:

1. Outstanding nutrition research:

  • Contributions to the advancement of knowledge
  • Scientific publications in reputed international journals
  • Academic achievements

2. Development of nutritional science:

  • Establishment of nutrition centres
  • Human resource development
  • National projects
  • Formulation of national nutrition policies and programmes

3. National recognition in terms of awards/prizes/honours.

4. Contribution to IUNS and other international organisations in the field of nutrition.
