ATNi Releases its 5th Global Access To Nutrition Index
The Access to Nutrition Initiative (ATNi) is a global foundation working to hold the food industry, investors, and policymakers accountable for creating healthier food systems. By analyzing data and providing actionable insights, ATNi fosters partnerships and innovations to transform markets, ensuring everyone has access to nutritious and sustainable food.
Recently, ATNi released the 5th edition of its Global Access to Nutrition Index. This report evaluates the performance of the 30 largest food and beverage manufacturers worldwide, analysing over 52,000 products that account for 23% of the global market share.
Poor diets contribute to one in five deaths globally. Additionally, one in eight adults is obese, 150 million children suffer from stunted growth due to malnutrition, and nearly one-third of women of reproductive age, along with half of all children, lack essential micronutrients.
The Index highlights encouraging progress, with more companies adopting internationally recognized Nutrient Profiling Models (NPMs) to classify products as “healthier” and setting measurable goals to enhance the nutritional quality of their portfolios.
