IUNS engages with a range of organisations through formal memberships, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and past or ongoing collaborations. These relationships are built on shared goals and joint initiatives that advance the science of nutrition and its role in global health.

IUNS has been a member of the International Science Council (ISC) since 1968.

The ISC works at the global level to catalyse and convene scientific expertise, advice and influence on issues of major concern to both science and society.

The ISC has a growing global membership that brings together over 230 organisations, including international scientific unions and associations from natural and social sciences, and the humanities, and national and regional scientific organisations such as academies and research councils.
The ISC was created in 2018 through the merger of the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC).

Proper nutrition is fundamental to health. Yet the world faces a double burden of malnutrition – undernutrition and obesity – which contributes to non-communicable diseases. By using nuclear techniques, nutrition and health professionals can develop and evaluate nutrition actions to combat all forms of malnutrition.
