9th Africa Nutrition Conference: “FOOD AND NUTRITION IN A CHANGING WORLD”
The 9th Africa Nutrition Conference (ANEC IX) is set to take place in the historic and scenic city of Cape Coast, Ghana, from 7th to 11th October 2024. Formerly known as the Africa Nutrition Epidemiology Conference, ANEC continues to be a flagship event under the African Nutrition Society (ANS). This year’s theme has been carefully chosen to address the ongoing global and regional crises that are reshaping the landscape of nutrition and health. It will focus on the implications these challenges have for research, practice, advocacy, and the training of professionals across Africa.
The conference will tackle pressing global issues that affect food and nutrition security, as well as the integrity of the food supply chain. It aligns with current global dialogues and national commitments aimed at transforming food systems for a better future. To inspire action among government leaders, policymakers, program implementers, and international development partners, ANEC IX has adopted a theme that is both policy-focused and practical. The sub-themes will directly address national needs, commitments, and targets for achieving sustainable food systems by 2030.
ANEC IX will bring together a diverse group of participants, including students, academics, trainers, practitioners, and representatives from government and non-governmental organizations, as well as multilateral and bilateral agencies. The conference will serve as a vibrant forum for the exchange of new knowledge and innovative strategies to address national priorities. In addition, it will feature public engagement activities tailored to specific countries, with support from media and modern communication technologies to amplify its impact. Social marketing and advocacy efforts will further enhance the conference’s reach and influence.
Moreover, Professor Anna Lartey, IUNS Past President (2013-2017) will be the first speaker at the conference to share her deep insights on Food Systems and Nutrition in Africa. This is a conference you won’t want to miss!
