International Science Council – COVID-19: From Recovery to Sustainability.

As the new year gets underway, ISC is taking a look at some of the key themes for science and policy that they expect to hear more on in 2021.

On 25 and 26 January, ISC will convene key thinkers to discuss steps towards a sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the priority research needed to build back better.

Join ISC on 25 January to learn more about the UN Research Roadmap for the COVID-19 Recovery, and on 26 January for the soft launch of the thematic reports produced under the IIASA-ISC Consultative Science Platform “Bouncing Forward Sustainably – Pathways to a Post-COVID World”.

WHO DG Dialogue – Social Participation and Accountability Within and Beyond the COVID-19 Pandemic

WHO extends invitations to all civil society members to participate in an interactive civil society dialogue with WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on the theme “Social Participation and Accountability Within and Beyond the COVID-19 Pandemic”.

The virtual event will take place on Tuesday 13 October 14:00-15:30 Central European Summer Time (GMT+02:00). More information on the third CSO dialogue meeting with WHO DG Dr Tedros can be found here.

2nd IUFoST Global Food Summit: Strategies and Actions for Sustainability of Future Food Systems

Nations around the world are facing serious challenges relating to food, water and energy security, health and environmental change, and the ever-increasing demand for science advice. The United Nations is convening a Food Systems Summit in 2021 as part of its Decade of Action to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.  The global pandemic has accelerated the need for a comprehensive and collective global response to the needs of future food systems.

IUFoST, the global scientific body for Food Science and Technology, announces the 2nd  Global Food Summit, Strategies and Actions for Sustainability of Future Food Systems, to be held virtually on 18 September 2020, beginning at 07:50. Eastern Time North America (GMT-4).

World Obesity: Live Webinar

In response to the current COVID-19 Pandemic, the World Obesity Federation and colleagues launched a series of webinars on COVID-19 & Obesity.

This debate-style webinar will bring together World Obesity members and policymakers from around the world to discuss what and how needs to happen to fast track action on obesity globally in this moment of crisis but also opportunity.

7th International Conference on Nutrition & Growth

To adapt to travel restrictions and the role of social distancing as a result of COVID-19, the N&G Organizing Committee has come to the decision to transform the 7th Nutrition and Growth Conference into a fully virtual meeting.

The virtual conference will take place on 27-29 August 2020. Virtual sessions will allow live interaction and will be available on-demand in the weeks following the Conference.
