Professor Francis Zotor

Professor Francis Bruno Zotor is a Professor of Public Health Nutrition at the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghana. He is a registered public health nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition of the UK and Northern Ireland and has specialised training in pedagogy with a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy of the UK and Ireland. Prof Zotor has over 90 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals research covers a global dimension of population and nutritional epidemiology; specifically, the links between poverty, food and nutrition security and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across the life cycle. He is a food product development specialist. He is also a recognized leader spanning over two and a half decades in nutrition across Africa and has been instrumental in driving and promoting the establishment of a strong nutrition profession on the continent, training, and research to underpin programme delivery, especially across the health and education sectors in Africa. Prof Zotor’s global context of his work has enabled him to work in both developed and developing societies. He serves on several international boards. In Africa, he is a Trustee and a Director of AfriCAN (https://african-network.org), Trustees of both the African Nutrition Society (https://www.ansnet.org) and the Federation of African Nutrition Societies (https://www.fanus.org); at the global level as member of the United Nation’s Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Network). Currently, he serves as Vice President of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS), a body that oversees the strategic directions of nutrition across the globe. In Ghana, he chairs the Food and Drug Board’s Technical Advisory Committee on Nutrition.
