Professor Sergio Paiva

Sergio Alberto Rupp de Paiva: graduate at Medicina from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1980), master’s degree (1983 to 1988) and a doctorate degree (1989 to 1995) Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP). Postdoctoral fellow at the “Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging and Tufts University, Boston (1998). Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Botucatu at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2013). Member of the Board of Directors of the Sociedade Brasileira de Alimentos e Nutrição. He was an advisor to the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA). He has experience in ​​Medicine, with an emphasis on Nutrition. He participates in the following lines of research: Remodelling and its cardiovascular and systemic repercussions and metabolic and nutritional changes associated with different clinical situations. The research projects are situated in the following themes: evaluation of the nutritional status, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, models of aggression to the heart (acute myocardial infarction, exposure to smoke and doxorubicin) and vitamins A, D, K and C, carotenoids, and food such as açaí, rosemary, Spondias mombin, green tea, Plinia cauliflora, orange, tomato, among others.
