Food and Nutrition Insecurity in Conflict Zones
Mission
To reduce and manage conflict-induced food insecurity, hunger, and malnutrition by building global knowledge, partnerships, and practical strategies.
Background
Armed conflict and civil strife are major drivers of hunger and malnutrition across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and beyond. Current responses often focus narrowly on rations and aid, neglecting long-term strategies for resilience, rehabilitation, and sustainable food systems. This Task Force will bridge this gap through evidence generation, policy engagement, and coordinated global action.
Key Objectives

- Document coping strategies and effective interventions.
- Create a community of practice and digital platform for knowledge sharing.
- Develop training modules and guidelines for governments and humanitarian actors.
- Advocate for integration of nutrition security into post-conflict recovery plans.

- Chair: Dr. Habiba Hassan-Wassef (Egypt)
- Vice Chair: Prof. Francis Bruno Zotor (Ghana)
- Supported by senior scientists and representatives from UN agencies, civil society, and global research institutes.
